To rotate it I used Avidemux on Linux.  Here are the steps I used to convert it:

Choose MPEG-4 AVC (x264) for the video codec
Click Filters
Find rotate in the list and double click it

They are a lot of fun to toy around with. I use the PVR-250 to record television shows weekly so that I don't miss them - just like Tivo except not quite as user friendly.
